PMF 2024 auditions have begun!

The international educational Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo (PMF) was founded by 20th century giant of the classical music world Leonard Bernstein, with the aim of fostering the young musicians of the world. Auditions to determine the members of the 2024 PMF Orchestra Academy – a program representing the core of the festival – have now begun.

All auditions will take place through online video submissions on the audition site "Acceptd," Applicants must have/make their own Acceptd account, fill in all required forms, and upload video(s) of the required materials. (We will not hold live auditions, nor receive materials by postal mail.)
*Please note that there will be no harp auditions in 2024.

Successful applicants to the PMF Orchestra Academy have their round-trip travel costs, accommodation, educational costs and meals/meal-stipends provided by the festival.

Eligibility Orchestral instrumentalists between the ages of 18 and 29 as of July 1, 2024

PMF 2024 overview

PMF 2024 will be held for 21 days from July 10 (Wed) to July 30 (Tue).
Manfred Honeck, Music Director of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, will serve as Principal Conductor, and Elias Grandy, PMF alumnus (PMF 2004 Cello Academy and PMF 2012 Conducting Academy) and Principal Conductor of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra from 2025 will serve as Guest Conductor.
