Each year, PMF Educational Seminars aim to deepen participants' musical understanding and enrich their musical lives through lectures presented by PMF faculty and participating artists.
~Learning from Bernstein, my path to becoming a conductor, and beyond~
Marin Alsop took part in the first PMF on the invitation of Leonard Bernstein. She went on to pioneer a path as a female conductor, establishing herself through her unique approach to innovative programming and advocacy for community outreach. Today, she has taken her rightful place in the world of classical music.
Upon this, her first return to PMF since 1990, the PMF Educational Seminar will provide the opportunity to hear from her directly about her memories of learning with Bernstein and of her conversations with him on education, as well as a range of other topics including her early years as a conductor, her current activities, and beyond.
