The international educational Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo (PMF) was founded by 20th century giant of the classical music world Leonard Bernstein, with the aim of fostering the young musicians of the world.
　
PMF 2026 will be held for 21 days, from July 7 (Tue) to July 27 (Mon).
　
David Robertson, who was Music Director of the Orchestre National de Lyon and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, will serve as PMF Principal Conductor. Ryan Bancroft, a rapidly ascendant American conductor who won the Malko Competition for Young Conductors in 2018 and is currently Chief Conductor of both the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and Principal Conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, will serve as PMF Guest Conductor. Additionally, Andreas Ottensamer, an alumnus of PMF 2008 who was principal clarinet of the Berliner Philharmoniker before launching his career as a conductor, will lead the PMF Host City Orchestra Concert and PMF Link Up Concert.
