First and foremost, our deepest sympathies go out to those affected by COVID-19, and our thoughts remain with everyone around the world coping with the pandemic. We are especially grateful for healthcare workers everywhere.

Since the April 3 cancellation of PMF 2020, the situation in the world has remained grim. The pandemic has cast a dark shadow on communities both in Japan and across the globe, on various industries, and on the social framework itself. In this difficult time, we have been overwhelmed by kind messages of support and hope.

The process of cancelling everything related to PMF 2020 is ongoing, but at the same time we are looking toward next year's festival, creating roadmaps for multiple post-COVID-society contingencies.

PMF programs consist of 3 main pillars: education for young musicians, concerts for the public, and community-outreach activities. We very much hope to be able to maintain these programs in future festivals. But the financial impact of PMF 2020's cancellation has frankly been drastic, and the path toward securing the funds necessary for implementing the festival next year now seems fraught with difficulty.

As one response to this situation, in urgent need of support, we have created an online fundraising site. All funds raised will go toward those activities during fiscal 2020 and beyond that are essential to preparing for the reopening of the festival in 2021, while of course remaining vigilant concerning COVID-19.

If you are able, we hope that you will consider making a contribution toward sustaining the festival, in order to ensure that the PMF Academy - aspiring, highly talented young musicians from around the globe - will be able to attend PMF once again next summer, and in order to present their wonderful music to as wide an audience as possible.
