PMF GALA ConcertAugust 6 (Sat)
PMF's own unique music education program is known as “the Academy.” Continuing on from last year, 3 Academies - Orchestra, Conducting, and Vocal - will be implemented at PMF 2016. Young musicians, mostly in their 20s and selected from across the globe through auditions held online will gather in Sapporo and spend a month studying together.
Offering the type of experience necessary for becoming a professional orchestral player and based on rehearsals and performances of the 3 main concert programs, the Orchestra Academy also features chamber music performances, including various Outreach Concerts.
Instructed by Principal Conductor John Axelrod and based primarily on the 3 pieces making up the first half of PMF Orchestra Concert <Program B>, the Conducting Academy's study culminates in performances with the orchestra.
Gabriella Tucci, legendary soprano known for her Italian bel canto ("beautiful song") roles, will convey the essence of the bel canto style to the Vocal Academy, with performances at the GALA Concert and Picnic Concert.
