Born in Hungary, Tamás Velenczei became Principal Trumpet of the Berliner Philharmoniker in 2000. Between 1983 and 1998 he was a member of the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. As a Principal Trumpet, he performed with the Budapest Festival Orchestra from 1992 to 1998. He belongs to the Berlin Philharmonic Brass Ensemble and also appears as a soloist and in various other chamber ensembles. Since he became a member of the Berliner Philharmoniker, he has also been teaching at the Orchester-Akademie. In addition, he is a professor at the Franz Liszt Music Academy of Budapest. This is his seventh appearance at PMF since 2006.
