Anton Rist has served as principal clarinetist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra since 2016, and has performed with the New York Philharmonic, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Grant Park Festival Orchestra, the Orchestra of St. Luke's, and the American Ballet Theater.
Rist is a faculty member at the Juilliard Pre-College, the Colorado College Summer Music Festival, and the Hidden Valley Festival of Winds, and has performed as a chamber musician and soloist at major festivals throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. Born and raised in New York City, Rist received two degrees from the Juilliard School, where he studied with Jon Manasse. Additional major teachers were Larry Guy and Jo-Ann Sternberg.
He was a member of the PMF Academy in 2012. This is his second appearance at PMF as a faculty member since 2022.
