Hiroyuki Odagiri was born in Sapporo. In 1979, he graduated from the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music and joined the Tokyo Brass Ensemble. In 1982, he formed the Tokyo Trombone Quartet. Odagiri has been the Principal Trombone of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra since 1986. He has released many CDs, including solo, trombone quartet, and brass ensemble recordings, among others. He has also published many arrangements and books of études. Along with his role as a principal player at the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Odagiri is also a member of the Bachbone Japan Trombone Ensemble, Tokyo Trombone Quartet, Tokyo Metropolitan Brass Quartet, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Trombone Quartet, and is currently the President of the Japanese Association of Trombonists. As an educator, Odagiri serves as a professor at the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, and at the Department of Music of the Tokoha University. He is also a guest professor at the Kunitachi College of Music, Showa University of Music, Sapporo Otani University Faculty of Arts Department of Music, Nagoya College of Music, and the Osaka University of Arts Graduate School.
