Passing Leonard Bernstein’s legacy
on to future generations

…My decision has been, without too much difficulty, to spend most of the remaining energy and time the Lord grants me with education, sharing as much as possible with younger people – and especially with very young people – whatever I can share, whatever I know not only about music, but about art, and not only about art, but also about the relation between art and life, and being oneself, finding one’s self, “knowing who you are” and doing the best possible job.
If I can communicate some of this to as many young people as possible in the years that remain to me, I will be a very happy man.

Donate for a chance to win a gift package every year through 2030!

PMF celebrated its 35th year in 2025, and now the 40th anniversary is on the horizon.
For the next five years, we will raise funds in support of a special project to invite alumni from all corners of the world to return to PMF in 2030.

We are deeply grateful to all of our supporters, and to our global community of alumni who go on to play various important roles in so many different places. It would be our great joy to reunite with alumni through this project. Please consider donating today, and joining with us as we travel this long road together toward the 40th anniversary in 2030!

※This fundraising project is for people who reside outside Japan, as donations from within Japan have a different tax status, and will not be eligible for the designated gift packages.
Residents of Japan, please instead consider supporting the festival through our annual crowdfunding project, which starts in May each year!

The Road to
the 40th Anniversary
~Year 1~

For each $100 USD raised, an empty seat on this stage will be filled, allowing you to chart the progress of this fundraising project and visualize the alumni orchestra coming together!
We are truly grateful for your generosity in helping to sustain the festival for future generations.

Additional incentives

As additional incentive, each year 3 donors’ names will be randomly selected to receive a gift package, and the highest donor will receive both the gift package and special items designed by Kanako Kajihara!

For each $50 USD donation made, a donor will have a chance to be selected in March of each year until 2030. The more times a donor’s name is “put into the hat,” the better their chances of being selected!
Gift packages include three “Sapporo Style” certified items created by artists in Sapporo, listed below.

“Sapporo Style” products

With gratitude for your support, PMF is delighted to offer the chance to win 3 “Sapporo Style” products.

"Sapporo Style" is a regional brand of original high-quality products produced by companies in Sapporo and certified by the City. Sapporo’s northern climate and its 4 highly distinct seasons inspire many artists to create products with a sense of fun, warmth, curiosity, novelty, and beauty, to enrich people's lives. Only select items are certified as "Sapporo Style" products.

PMF gift packages will include the following 3 items:

The highest donor each fiscal year

And in addition to these, the highest donor each fiscal year will receive two face towels from esteemed textile designer Kanako Kajihara. Born in Sapporo, Kajihara is known for her distinctive style, combining Japanese traditional craft with modern innovation. Her ethical design philosophy includes the use of leftover materials, which feeds into her aesthetic, lending to her truly unique designs. Her work is sought after globally, including by French high fashion brands.

Kajihara’s extra fine, soft, and quick-to-dry 100% blended-cotton towels make use of environmentally friendly materials including "Pima cotton," characterized by its suppleness and softness. The resultant yarn is processed with the cutting edge “super zero” twisting method, resulting in excellent absorbency and long-lasting fluffiness. Kajihara's towels are used by Tokyo’s prestigious Imperial Hotel.
