The first orchestral program conducted by Principal Conductor Jun Märkl features well-known pieces originating from various parts of central Europe. "A Midsummer Night"s Dream," widely known for its Wedding March; Mahler"s famous work Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen ("Songs of the Wayfarer"); and Dvořák"s Slavic-tinged Symphony No. 7, whose popularity rivals that of his Symphony No. 9 "From the New World." Tomo Matsubara, whose energetic performances with various orchestras in Europe and Japan are ongoing, will give a highly anticipated performance as soloist.
