Marking its 25^th anniversary, PMF 2014"s first orchestra program will include Beethoven"s Symphony No. 9. Believe it or not, the PMF Orchestra last performed this piece in its entirety in 1993: twenty-one years ago! Guest Conductor Osmo Vänskä will take up the baton. Known as a Sibelius specialist, Vänskä has also established a reputation as an interpreter of Beethoven, having taken on all of the Beethoven symphonies with the Minnesota Orchestra. As their first program, this will be a touchstone for this year"s PMF Orchestra. Seeing just how such experienced proficiency and youthful talent will blend promises to be fascinating!
