Mr. Friedrich Doležal (former co-principal cellist with the Wiener Philharmoniker), who made such generous contributions to PMF as a faculty member, passed away on August 20.

Mr. Doležal participated in PMF fifteen times starting in 1991, impacting the lives of a great many Academy members with his matchless musicianship and his gentle personality. He also offered us an endless variety of orchestral and chamber performances, always with his characteristic, unforgettable sound.

Though he was forced to cancel his participation in this summer's PMF due to his health condition, he had expressed his resolute desire to return to PMF in the future; we are shocked and deeply saddened by his sudden passing.

Our gratitude for Mr. Doležal's invaluable contribution to PMF is ever unwavering, and we would like to express our sincerest condolences to his family, and to the countless people all over the world whose lives he touched.
