Born in Thorn, Netherlands, Herman van Kogelenberg has served as Principal Flute of The Munich Philharmonic since 2013. While still studying, he was appointed Principal Flute with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liege in 1999. He resigned from the orchestra to join the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra from 2003 until 2010. From 2010 until 2013 he held the position of Principal Flute with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. A passionate and dedicated teacher, he is regularly invited to give masterclasses all over the world in places such as the University of California in Los Angeles, and has taught at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and at the Rotterdam Conservatory Codarts. This is his first appearance at PMF.
