Takako Umemoto graduated from the Faculty of Music at the Kyoto City University of Arts. She performed at the university’s graduation concert and the 17th Yamaha Wind Instrument Debut Concert. She has been awarded various prizes, including 3rd place in the Clarinet Division of the 12th Japan Woodwind Competition, the Selection Committee Encouragement Award in the 6th Matsukata Hall Music Awards, first prize in the duo category at the 2nd Clarinet Ensemble Competition, and the Osaka Central Rotary Club 25th Anniversary Music Competition prize. Umemoto has given multiple concerto performances with the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to her orchestral activities, she performs widely in solo and chamber music. Umemoto is currently the principal of the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra. She is a member of the Naniwa "Orchestra" Winds and the Kansai Selmer Quartet. In 2019, she released the trio CD "KLEINES KONZERT" with violist Etsuko Nakajima and pianist Miho Moritama. She was a PMF Junior Fellow in 2000, then served as principal with the PMF Orchestra JAPAN in 2021. This year she returns to serve as a PMF Section Leader.
