Tomoko Kusumegi is an alumna of the Tokyo University of the Arts. She won 2nd place in the 73rd Music Competition of Japan, 1st prize in the 22nd Japan Wind and Percussion Competition, and the Encouragement Award in the 8th International Oboe Competition of Japan in Karuizawa. As a soloist, Kusumegi has performed with the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra and the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. She participated in the Seiji Ozawa Rostropovich Concert Caravan, the Pacific Music Festival, the 2011 PMF Chamber Orchestra, and La Folle Journée Tokyo Music Festival. Her mentors include Hitoshi Wakui, Keiko Narita, Otto Winter, and Yoshiaki Obata. Kusumegi currently performs with a broad range of orchestras, chamber ensembles, and more.
