Maiko Tomita has been a member of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra since December 2008. She received Honorable Mention in Japan"s 8th National Classical Competition, and has participated in various masterclasses and educational programs, including the Asahikawa-Vienna International String Seminar, the 16th Kyoto France Academy, Viola Space 2006, and the 2008 Takefu International Music Festival. She began studying violin at age of 3, and graduated from the Osaka University of Education, continuing her studies in the university"s post-graduate course. Tomita"s violin teachers include Chieko Sokabe, Kimiko Kotani, Minako Inagaki, and Takuma Inagaki. She also participated in masterclasses with Leon Spierer, Régis Pasquier, and Stephan Picard.
