Takahiro Shimotsuka received both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Hokkaido University of Education Iwamizawa Campus. He has won many prizes including the Sapporo Art Festival’s New Artists Concert Grand Prize, Dogin Cultural Foundation Art and Culture Encouragement Award, and the Yoshinao Nakada Memorial Competition Grand Prize. At PMF 2010, he performed as Marcello in Puccini's La Bohème conducted by Fabio Luisi. After he moved to Italy in 2014, he made his title role debut as Figaro in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia as an academy member with the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in 2016. Since returning to Japan, in addition to performances as a soloist in various opera and sacred repertoire, he is active with arts appreciation events, workshops, choral lectures, and narration, and currently serves as a part-time lecturer at Sapporo Otani University.
Shimotsuka was a member of the PMF Singers in 2010. This year marks his fourth professional appearance at PMF since 2014.
