In 2025, at the 76th Prague Spring International Music Competition, Yuya Mizuno made history as the first Asian musician to win First Prize in the competition's cello category, where he was also honored with four special prizes. He has garnered numerous accolades in various competitions such as First Prize and special prizes including the Audience Award at the 89th Music Competition of Japan (2020), as well as First Prize and the Audience Award at the 13th Tokyo Music Competition (2015). As a soloist, Mizuno has performed with prominent orchestras such as the Prague Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. He performs on a 1710 Pietro Giacomo Rogeri cello, generously loaned by the Suntory Foundation for the Arts, and a bow by F. Tourte, on loan from the Sumino Collection. Mizuno was a member of the PMF Academy in 2017. This year marks his fourth professional appearance at PMF since 2021.
