A native of San Diego, David Chan won a top prize at the Tchaikovsky International Competition at the age of seventeen. His principal teachers were Dorothy DeLay, Hyo Kang, and Michael Tseitlin. He has performed throughout the United States, Europe and the Far East as a soloist with such orchestras as the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He is a frequent guest at the Seattle Chamber Music Festival and at La Jolla"s SummerFest. Chan is the concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and currently on the faculty of the Juilliard School. This is his fifth appearance at PMF since 2008.
