Message (as an Academy member) to PMF supporters

What are you looking forward to about PMF?

Travelling to Japan and discovering this amazing country ! It is going to be a very special experience meeting musicians from around the world, making music together and learning from the players of the Berlin and LA Philharmonic Orchestras.

Please type a short message to music fans and those who support PMF in Sapporo and throughout Japan.

Thank you for supporting PMF. Music is one of the most important things in my life and I feel very honoured to be part of this Festival. I am looking forward to playing for you this summer !

【After PMF 2023】What are some impressions of your time in Sapporo?

The various kinds of food, areas of the city, the welcoming local people and neighbouring mountains (especially the onsen!) will leave you enchanted. Kitara Hall is one of the best acoustics I have ever played in and the audience members were very enthusiastic and kind. With the help of the wonderful PMF staff we had the chance to discover different aspects of Japanese culture such as: traditional tea ceremony, puppet making, calligraphy and kimono workshops, and I had so much fun discovering this fascinating culture! The children’s concert was extremely cute and heartwarming. The weeks spent in Sapporo with PMF were truly unforgettable and I very much look forward to coming back in the future!

【After PMF 2023】What did you take away from your time at PMF?

There is so much! Firstly: the high level of music making. The opportunity to play in exceptional halls, under the batons of inspiring conductors, as well as the many memorable concerts and lessons given by the faculty members. Secondly: the lovely people I met this month with whom I forged some deep bonds which I hope will last a lifetime! In addition to these two points, of course: discovering Japan and it’s culture. The food is a major highlight, but also the art, history, nature, and temples amongst others. Traveling to Japan was a dream come true!

【After PMF 2023】What advice would you give to people thinking of auditioning for PMF?

I would advise really taking the time to make a high quality recording: find the optimum acoustic and camera. And of course it goes without saying: work on the audition repertoire until you feel that you can present it at your best.
