With gratitude and respect for Bernstein

The PMF 2018 T-Shirt

PMF 2018 marks the centennial of the birth of the festival's founder, Leonard Bernstein. This year's T-shirt was designed as an expression of gratitude and respect for Bernstein by young Sapporo-based Yusuke Momma, whose sensibilities have garnered praise from performers, staff, and audiences alike.

This is the third in Momma's consecutive series of PMF T-shirt designs, which are produced in higher numbers each year and yet consistently sell out. The PMF 2018 T-shirt is perfect indoor or outdoor summer attire on its own, and is complimented nicely by a cardigan or jacket.

Yusuke Momma
  • The staff lines recall the striped shirt worn by Bernstein at the first PMF, in 1990.
  • The treble clef in the center functions as the '&' connecting PMF 2018 and the Bernstein centennial year.
  • Ivy was chosen for its symbolism of 'eternal love/friendship' and 'prosperity,' paying homage to Bernstein's lifelong love of music and people, and with hope for the prosperity of the international educational Pacific Music Festival.
