[PMF 2024] Schumann: String Quartet in F major, Op. 41 No. 2

In a matter of weeks in the summer of 1842, the year that became known as Schumann's "year of chamber music," he wrote his beloved opus 41 set of string quartets, including this, his String Quartet No. 2. The final movement features a theme that seems to hearken to one he would later use in the piece that Bernstein conducted at the first PMF in 1990, Schumann's Symphony No. 2.
