A Change of Conductors

Jun Märkl Andris Poga
Jun Märkl Andris Poga

David Zinman, who was scheduled to appear as Principal Conductor, has been forced to put all conducting activities on hold due to his current health condition.
Zinman had expressed his desire to resume conducting as quickly as possible and participate in PMF 2015 after undergoing hip replacement surgery in New York, but on the advice of his medical team he has been forced to cancel his engagement with PMF.
In his place, Jun Märkl and Andris Poga have kindly agreed to lead the PMF Orchestra in Programs A and B, respectively.
Program B has been partially altered as a result.
We offer our sincerest apologies to members of PMF Friends and others who purchased tickets in anticipation of Zinman's performances.

PMF Blend: The Joy of Shared Resonance
〜PMF × Marumi Coffee〜

Due to popular demand, the “PMF Blend,” conceived with the idea that “coffee beans, like the orchestra, are made more wonderful when blended together in shared resonance,” will be available again this year.
This blend is provided by barista and owner of Marumi Coffee Mr. Eijiro Goto, who placed No. 3 in the world in the 2009 Tasting Championship in Cologne, Germany, and was then recognized as the No. 1 roaster in Japan in 2011.
Like a performance of the PMF Orchestra, whose members are chosen through auditions and hail from 23 countries and regions around the world, the mellow flavor of this blend is achieved by combining coffee beans of various origins and varieties to bring you the joy of shared resonance.

The Work of a Librarian

The Librarian is in charge of obtaining and managing orchestral and chamber music scores. Preparations for the rehearsals and performances in July are presently at their peak.

Bernstein's “Candide Overture” is carefully stored along with many other scores.

Bernstein Place Seasons 〜Sakura Spring〜

Cherry-blossom season finally reached northern Japan in early May. With the snow completely melted, a vibrant display of life bursts forth as Bernstein Place is greeted by Spring for the first time, surrounded by a colorful array of trees and flowers. This month we bring you the Bernstein statue bathed in Spring light.
